young children through seven activities designed for toddlers. While
the games are uneven in terms of quality, in general, there's plenty to
like. Testers' unanimous favorite is a fun fishing game, in which
children simply move the mouse over a fish to reel it in. They loved
planting seeds and watering flowers with Mother Bear, but wanted to
know why their garden disappeared when they were done.
Kids also enjoyed the toddler-friendly painting activity, in which they
move the mouse or press a key to paint Little Bear scenes. Less popular
were the cloud shape identification activity, the musical instruments
game and a "find the hidden objects" scene. The responsivity of this
toddler-friendly program could be improved, and the characters are a
bit too talkative. That said, the seven pleasant activities present a
light introduction to the computer, as well as to early learning
concepts like counting to five and listening.
Kids will appreciate hearing their names integrated into the games and
the printable activities. Best of all is the click-free design that
lets children make their selections simply by letting the mouse pause
on the object of choice. Toddlers who aren't ready for full mouse
control will have lots of success, while those who can click can get
some practice as they make their selections.
Teaches: early learning, mouse skills, counting, listening, colors, matching
